Our Approach

Press is infrastructure for research, not a gatekeeper of it. We do not review submissions for scientific quality, novelty, or correctness before publication. That is the job of the research community, not the platform.

At the same time, Press is not a dumping ground. We maintain baseline standards to ensure the platform remains a credible venue for scholarly work.

What Belongs on Press

Press is for research manuscripts: preprints, working papers, technical reports, and other scholarly contributions. A submission should be a genuine attempt at research, regardless of whether a reader ultimately agrees with its conclusions.

We accept work from any discipline and do not require institutional affiliation, endorsement, or prior publication history.

What Does Not Belong on Press

The following will be removed:

  • Spam and advertising -- commercial content disguised as research
  • Plagiarism -- work that substantially copies another source without attribution
  • Fabricated content -- manuscripts generated entirely by AI without meaningful human contribution or oversight
  • Hate speech and harassment -- content whose primary purpose is to attack or demean individuals or groups
  • Malicious code -- files that attempt to exploit browsers or users
  • Non-research content -- blog posts, homework assignments, opinion pieces, or other material that is clearly not a research contribution

How We Enforce This

Press uses automated checks at upload time:

  • Content structure validation (does the document resemble a research manuscript?)
  • Spam detection (keyword patterns, excessive external links)
  • HTML security validation (no malicious scripts or exploits)
  • File format and size limits

These checks are not perfect. If something slips through, or if you believe a published scroll violates this policy, email us at hello@aris.pub and we will review it.

Identity Verification

All accounts require a verified email address. We also support ORCID verification, which links your Press account to your established research identity. ORCID verification is optional but encouraged.

Takedown Process

If content is found to violate this policy, we will:

  1. Notify the author with the specific concern
  2. Give reasonable time to respond (unless the violation is severe)
  3. Remove the content if the concern is substantiated

In cases of obvious spam, malicious code, or illegal content, we may remove material immediately without prior notice.

What We Do Not Do

Press does not:

  • Judge the quality or significance of research
  • Require endorsement from established researchers
  • Assign reviewers or conduct peer review
  • Use automated systems to reject submissions based on predicted quality

We believe the research community is better equipped to evaluate scholarly work than any platform or algorithm.
